It’s Foodie Friday! We’re back with 5 photos on the 5th of the month, and this time, we decided to showcase some good eats we’ve had recently.
Cindy: All shots are via the iPhone this month. Three are captures of some home cooking (which I love to do) with one restaurant visit (the best part of any meal: dessert!) and the obligatory coffee photo. This one is from a Mom-and-Pop shop near my house. I love those as an alternative to the chain shops I normally frequent.
Danielle: All iPhone here as well. A mix of homemade and out, and of course a cocktail or two. And I made my first frittata with my awesome cast iron skillet. This thing was easy to make and lasted for almost 2 weeks of meals!
I still can’t believe this was a bagged salad mix I found at the grocery store. The almonds and cranberries were nice with the vinaigrette they included as well. I just added the chicken. And who can’t resist a nice chiffonade of basil?
The pickles were the star in this photo. Peach LOVES pickles so we decided to try our hand at homemade, since we found this dead-simple recipe. I went out and bought a large Mason jar specifically for future batches, they were that good. And I love that the letters on my coffee cup not only reflect my initials, but my drink of choice too! Any guesses?
Summer wouldn’t be complete without some key lime pie and fruit cobbler a la mode from one of my favorite seafood restaurants in Santa Monica, Blue Plate Oysterette.
I made my first frittata, paleo of course. I took a recipe I found online and then removed the cheese. Just eggs, mushrooms and spinach. It was yummy and filling! This next one is from a trip to Spa Castle (blog post to come) which was not half as awesome as it sounds. But it did give me this yummy plate to the right with fresh fish and fruit.
This amazing Dosa is from a tiny vegetarian Indian restaurant in Jackson Heights. It’s a light as air pancake filled with potato and curry. Heaven.
And no list is complete without chocolate martinis and chocolate covered strawberries at Azya, a wine and chocolate bar in NYC.
Lastly, a typical weekend breakfast when I have O: scrambled eggs, applewood smoked bacon and fruit, in this case, peaches. Breakfast of champions.
